(Trenton) – Route 5, Route 120, and Route 124 are scheduled to have single lane closures during the day over the next several weeks to reset manholes and repair drainage inlets in various locations, in Bergen and Union counties. At least one lane or alternating traffic will be maintained on each roadway during construction.
Route 5 Daytime Lane Closures
From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. tomorrow, Thursday, July 18 and continuing daily Monday through Friday for the next several weeks, Route 5 is scheduled to be closed in one direction between Ray Avenue in Ridgefield and Inwood Terrace in Fort Lee, Bergen County and between Arcadian Way in Fort Lee and River Road/CR 505 in Edgewater, Bergen County. Alternating traffic will be maintained on Route 5 during construction.
Route 120 Daytime Lane Closures
From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. tomorrow, Thursday, July 18 and continuing daily Monday through Friday for the next several weeks, a single lane on Route 124 northbound and southbound is scheduled to be closed between Route 3 in East Rutherford and the Route 120 Bridge over Berry’s Creek in Carlstadt, Bergen County. At least one lane will be maintained on Route 120 in both directions during construction.
Route 124 Daytime Lane Closures
From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. tomorrow, Thursday, July 18 and continuing daily Monday through Friday for the next several weeks, a single lane on Route 124 northbound and southbound is scheduled to be closed between Molter Avenue and Springfield Avenue (Route 124 westbound)/Morris Avenue (Route 82) in Springfield, Union County and between Valley Road in Union Township and Milburn Avenue/CR 630 in Maplewood, Union County. Where possible, at least one lane will be maintained on Route 124 in both directions. Where Route 124 is one lane in each direction, alternating traffic will be maintained during construction.
This work is part of a $10.5 million state funded project that will mill and pave, as well as improve drainage, upgrade ADA-compliant curb ramps and sidewalks, restripe and make other necessary improvements, on approximately two and a half miles of Route 5, approximately two miles of Route 120 and approximately one mile of Route 124. This project is expected to be completed by spring 2025.
